Maintenance Tips and Practical Instructions:

    Condensation Nylon/ Polyester tents:
  • All tents are treated to be water resistant. If the seams are NOT taped it is strongly recommended that you apply a sealant. We also recommend using a seam sealant on all stress areas (e.g. guy points)
  • Condensation is a normal phenomenon with all the tents of polyester and nylon.
  • During heavy rainfall and in the morning there can be condensation on the inside of the flysheet, this is normal.
  • To reduce condensation, ensure that your tent is well ventilated at all times, opening the ventilation points where available.
  • Floor condensation is also frequently in between the ground sheet and air mattress. If your tent is damp inside do not think immediately that has leaked, often it is condensation.
  • Ground sheet: is a sail (canvas) on the floor under the tent, the use prolongs its life.
    Zips:
  • Make sure when building the tent the zips are closed.
  • Use two hands to open and close zips.
  • NEVER FORCE A ZIP.
  • Zip runner that miss align with zip teeth or jammed zips can usually be freed by using a wax candle or specialist zip ease spray.
    Poles:
  • Failure in poles normally occurs through incorrect use, but failure will also occur over time. Always check all your poles before use to check for any possible defects. Always carry replacement poles and repair kit.
    Sun and Discoloration:
  • The ultra-violet rays of the sun affect the majority of substances and materials, especially nylon. The tent cloth that is in intensive sunlight will fade to a certain degree.
  • Polyester and cotton tents are the best thing against UV rays, but are often expensive. Because there is no longer asbestos in tent fabrics, they are not 100% colourfast.
